Beginner's Guide to Hethereau
Everything new Appraisers need to know before starting their journey in Neverness to Everness.
Welcome to Hethereau, Appraiser
Neverness to Everness (NTE) drops you into Hethereau, a sprawling urban open world where supernatural anomalies collide with everyday city life. As an Appraiser, your job is to investigate these anomalies, contain dangerous phenomena, and uncover the mysteries behind them.
This guide covers everything you need to know to hit the ground running on launch day.
Core Gameplay Loop
Your daily routine in Hethereau revolves around three pillars:
Exploration & Anomaly Hunting Drive vehicles, use Esper abilities to traverse buildings, and discover anomaly hotspots across the city. Each anomaly you contain rewards materials and progression currency.
Combat & Team Building Assemble a team of 3 characters with complementary Esper abilities. Master the Esper Cycle system to trigger elemental synergies and maximize damage output.
Lifestyle & Business Management Run your antique shop or café, customize your apartment, upgrade vehicles, and build your empire. These activities provide passive income and unlock quality-of-life features.
Character Progression Basics
Rarity Tiers
- S-Class: Premium characters with unique kits (1.88% base pull rate, guaranteed at 90 pulls)
- A-Class: Solid performers, easier to obtain and upgrade
Key Stats to Prioritize
- ATK (Damage dealers) or HP/DEF (Survival roles)
- Esper Gain Rate — fills your Cycle meter faster
- Elemental Mastery — boosts synergy damage
Leveling Priority
Focus resources on your main DPS first, then your primary support/buffer, and finally your survival character. Don’t spread materials thin early on.
Esper Cycle Combat 101
The Esper Cycle is NTE’s signature combat mechanic. Here’s how it works:
- Infuse enemies with elemental attributes using character skills
- Trigger synergies when two adjacent elements combine (e.g., Incantation + Chaos = Arcane Surge)
- Build Cycle Rate through combat actions
- Unleash the full Esper Cycle when the meter fills for massive burst damage
Pro Tip: Always start with your buffer/support character to apply team-wide buffs before switching to your DPS.
Daily Priorities (Post-Launch)
Once the game launches, establish this daily routine:
- Anomaly Commissions (3-5 per day) — primary source of character EXP materials
- Domain Runs (stamina-gated) — farm ascension materials
- Business Management — collect passive income, restock inventory
- Weekly Boss — high-value rewards, don’t miss it
Gacha & Reroll Strategy
NTE uses a guaranteed system — no 50/50 coin flips. At 90 pulls, you’re guaranteed the featured S-Class character. Base rate is 1.88%.
Should you reroll? Only if you’re F2P and want a specific launch S-Class. The game gives Haniel (A-Class) for free, who’s a strong support to carry you through early content.
Best Launch Targets (based on beta data):
- Baicang (Incantation DPS) — top-tier single-target damage
- Jiuyuan (Anima DPS) — excellent AoE and mobility
- Sakiri (Incantation Buff) — universal support, pairs with anyone
Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Spreading resources across too many characters — focus on 3-4 core units ❌ Ignoring business management — passive income adds up fast ❌ Skipping tutorials — Esper Cycle mechanics are complex, don’t rush ❌ Pulling on every banner — save for characters that synergize with your team
